MADONNA DELL'ACQUA CHAPEL

This chapel has a history of several hundred years and is now home to two memorial stones for the war dead. In fact it seems that it was built in 1616 at the behest of the Bishop Vicar of Rimini. Giovanni Pascoli loved this little building very much as it consoled his mother in her suffering and in May 1897 he wrote to his friends in San Mauro '...and those who find my perfect world will be moved by it, bounded by the two rivers Uso and Rio Salto with the little church of Madonna dell'Acqua and the graveyard shaded by cypresses at its centre...'
